Reflecting on 2024

I’ve had a tradition of writing a review for every year since 2016. However, I missed writing one last year. But this year was incredibly enjoyable, as I had the opportunity to live in eight different countries.

As usual, let me begin by discussing the habits I adopted during this whirlwind travel year.

Reading

Started off the year greatly however, there were some considerable check-in misses towards the year end. However, I was able to hit to hit my Aggressive target of reading 20 books in 2024. I missed roughly 55 days out of 365 (~85% checkin rate). Will definitely plan to make it a perfect 365 in 2025! Here are the titles I read in 2024.

2016 still stands my most aggressive reading year where I read 40 books in under 5 months :)

Overall I’ve made check in for 2741 days, roughly 391 weeks! Want to add another 52 next year!

Language Learning

This habit has become more like brushing my teeth for me now. However, I had to slow down and reduce my language learning to just four languages (from six, had to ditch French and Italian). Spanish, Portuguese, and German all received a perfect score of 365, while Hindi received a near-perfect score last year.

Physical Activity

2024 was an excellent year for physical fitness and activity. Given that I was constantly traveling almost all of the year and living in at least 25 different hotels and homes, I was able to keep up my habit of going to Gym.

My physical activity checkins by month for the year of 2024

40% is the overall score which translates to hitting the gym 3 days a week. Some months were higher, and some months were impossible to keep up and some months clearly exceeded the expectations. In any case, 2025 is also going to be one such year where I am going to give even more importance to physical activities. Since Mind and Body are so tied to each other, keeping one healthy automatically makes the other healthy too.

Travel

In 2024, I embraced a truly nomadic lifestyle, embarking on numerous travels to various countries. I had the privilege of meeting friends, colleagues, and relatives who I hadn’t seen in decades. There’s nothing quite like the experience of meeting someone in person; virtual meetups can only come so close. Sharing a beer with a co-worker or a friend surpasses any Zoom, Google, or other virtual gathering. In this regard, 2024 truly stands out. While traveling like this may not be suitable for everyone,I would recommend that you give it a shot, at least once in your life. I might consider creating a separate post to share all the major cities and countries I visited.

2025 goals

In 2025, I’m not one for making resolutions anymore. If I make one, I’ll immediately start tracking it on my habit tracker. Start of the year is not good enough to motivate or demotivate me. My main goal for now is to maintain all my existing habits, improve them, and embrace life as it unfolds!

Wishing you all a fantastic new year!
